Most mornings we are trying to get in a workout, shower, get ready, and head out the door. In between all of this we need to eat! And if you follow us on Instagram, you probably think we eat some pretty fancy and time-consuming breakfasts. Well guess what? We don’t! What you see us eat looks fancy and complicated, but actually takes us no time to make!

Meal prep absolutely plays a role; however, we do not always meal prep every single meal for every single day. Instead, we pick a few items (like freezing fruit, making a large batch of quinoa, and making a no-bake snack bar) that we know we can always grab n’ go. In addition, to help make breakfast easy, we do the following:

Freeze and package smoothie ingredients

Know you want to have a smoothie tomorrow morning? Then tonight, place all of the solid smoothie ingredients into a plastic or freezer safe bag, and you guessed it – freeze them! Tomorrow morning, all you’ll have to do is dump the smoothie ingredients into a blender, add liquid, maybe a little nut butter or plant protein powder, blend, and you are good to go!

Soak oats or groats

Oatmeal and buckwheat cereals are a favorite of ours! However, sometimes we do not feel like cooking oatmeal or buckwheat, so we soak them (we’ll be sending out a buckwheat recipe soon to the newsletter)! For buckwheat groats, you can simply soak them for 30 minutes (while you workout, shower, etc) or overnight, and then mix in with your favorite fruit and nuts. For oatmeal, use this basic Overnight Oats recipe here, and then customize it based on what you are in the mood for eating!

Coffee game strong

If you know us, then you know we never skip the coffee! We are #teamblackcoffee all the way! And something that has helped us make a batch when we are in a rush, is setting our coffee pot timer the night before. We also like to use a French Press for our coffee now, so we will scoop the coffee the night before so that it is set to go the next day.

Note: If you do not like black coffee, that’s cool. You can swap out milk for plant milks (i.e. almond, coconut, cashew) or try one of the latte options from your nutrition plan. Alternatively, you can make a simple date creamer for a sweetener. Simply pit and soak a handful of dates in warm water. Then drain and blend dates with fresh water or almond milk (add as much liquid as you would like to loosen the creamer to your desired consistency).

Bonus: Freeze your pancakes, French toast, muffins, and/or cookies!

When we have a moment – usually on a Sunday or Monday – we will make a batch of the Fairburn Flapjacks or French Toast, or a breakfast cookie/muffin from the nutrition plan and then freeze them. Then we can grab them and heat them up in the morning before heading out.
