By now you may know that when it comes to your health, exercise is 20% and nutrition is 80%! This can seem daunting, especially when you are busy and have a ton of different things going on around you at once.

We always refer to the Fairburn it Off Nutrition & Fitness Plan, because it helps us to stay on track with our meals, but also to save time with all of the prep laid out for us, and the number of recipes that can be done in 15 minutes or less (but still look fancy as heck)! However, if you are just starting out, or maybe starting back again, and want to take it one step at a time – no worries! We have you covered!

To help you get going, we are sharing 3 things that you can start doing today! They are simple and easy, and if you commit to doing just these 3 things, then eventually it will feel seamless to start adding in more healthy meals and habits.

1.) Swap the oil

How often do you have oil in your day to day diet? It may not seem like much, but you might be surprised to realize just how much oil you are really having. For example, many dressings call for at least a 1/2 cup of olive oil. Now, we love olive and coconut oils from time to time, but we would rather ingest our healthy fats in a chewable form (like avocados)! So next time you sauté some vegetables or make a salad dressing, try swapping the oil with water or low-sodium vegetable broth. This is how we make our pesto sauce and sauté our veggies all of the time – and we do not notice a difference!

2.) Swap a snack

What do your typical snacks look like? If you tend to go for a quick bar or chips, or even boiled eggs as a snack, try swapping them out this week. Even if it is just one. This will not only keep it healthy, but also help you to change up your snacks. For example, a piece of fruit, cup of berries, kale chips, sliced vegetables, hummus, etc., can all be used as a quick and easy swap. You can of course always make one of the many muffin or bar recipes from your nutrition plan.

3.) Make 1 thing

Don’t feel like you have time to meal prep? If that’s the case, then simply make 1 thing this week. When we are in a rush or have something going on, the one thing we will usually prep is a large batch of quinoa or brown rice. This way, we have something to use all week for bowls and salads. All you have to do is toss in your favorite veggies.
