Valentine’s Day is less than a week away, so we are celebrating with some chocolate covered strawberries… in smoothie form! Whip up this plant-based smoothie as a post workout drink, a morning treat, or just to simply share with a loved one!

Ingredients:
-1/2 frozen and sliced banana
-1/2 cup chopped frozen strawberries*
-1 1/2 tbsp. cacao powder*
-1 tbsp. peanut or other nut or sun butter
-1 tsp. maple syrup, date syrup, or honey*
-1/2 tsp. of vanilla extract
-Optional scoop of plain or chocolate plant-based protein powder
-3/4 to 1 cup almond or other non-dairy milk or water 

Directions:
Place all ingredients into a blender and start with 3/4 cup of almond milk. Blend and pulse, and add additional almond milk if needed to reach desired consistency. Enjoy!


 

*Notes:
-You can sub raspberries for strawberries
-Cacao powder makes a big difference, but if you have cocoa powder, just start with 1 tbsp. and taste
-You can add one more teaspoon of sweetener if you prefer, but taste first! You can also omit the sweetener altogether (we enjoy it this way too, but it’s personal preference)
