Working out and eating clean is often viewed as a restrictive and complicated lifestyle. However, it does not need to be, and in fact, it should not be that way.
How many times have you heard conflicting information abut what and what not to eat? Or what types of workouts you should and should not do? With all of the information out there, it can be quite time consuming and frustrating to eat clean and workout. However, we are taking the guess work out for you!
Here are the top 3 tips to keep in mind:
1.) Eat clean, whole, non-processed, foods. Do not stress about low fat or low carb foods. Low carb and low fat does not mean a food item is healthy. In fact, many of those foods contain added chemical fillers to make up for the natural ingredients that were removed. Focus on making your own meals and try to reduce buying pre-made items as often as you can. It’s okay if you do this slowly, because eating clean, even if only for a few days at first, is better than nothing. For a list of processed foods that are most common and what you can use in their place, read here.
2.) Make sure you eat enough. Do not cut back or limit your food intake. You should feel full. If you are not full, or if you are feeling tired and run down, then you need to eat more. Your food is literally your fuel. Just like your car needs gas to drive, you need food to live and function. Make sure you eat every 2-3 hours and aim for 5 meals per day.
3.) Workout. Workout daily. And change it up. It’s not about working out for hours on end. In fact, you can work out until you are blue in the face, but if you do not change it up, and if you do not break a sweat or get your heart rate up, then the workout will not be very effective. Additionally, make sure you move every day. That does not mean that you have to do a high intensity workout every single day, but rather, just make sure you move in some capacity. Whether it’s walking, yoga, biking, hiking, etc. – just move.
