Happy Fairburnin’ Friday… or should we say Furburnin’ Friday!? 😉

Excuse the animal puns, but today is a very special day for us. We will be at the animal shelter where we adopted our love, Jovie, helping (well, the vets will be doing the real work) other senior kitties get ready for adoption, because they are going to be FREE during the month of July thanks to local cat groups! If you happen to live in the New England area, be sure to check out the MSPCA and maybe find your furmate!

We will be sharing a little bit more about todays event and the adoptions very soon, but fur now, we are celebrating with a Furburnin’ Workout.

Yes, we are serious! We put together a full body workout to mimic the movements that our furry friends do, and it is no joke!

Grab your fur baby or any friend, and sweat it out together!

Follow up your workout with this easy-to-make Catastic Green Smoothie!

Catastic Green Smoothie

  • Servings: 1
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

Ingredients:
-1 cup kale or spinach (or a mix of both)
-1/4 of an avocado (save the other half in the refrigerator for use in another smoothie, bowl, or salad)
-4 dates, pitted
-1/2 tbsp. turmeric or ginger, optional for a little zing
-1 tbsp. chia seeds or 1 scoop plain plant protein powder, optional (we like chia best in this recipe, or we just omit it all together – your call)
-5-7 ice cubes
-3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk

Note: This is not meant to be a very sweet smoothie; however, if you want a little more sweetness, you can add 1 tsp. of honey or 2 pieces of frozen pineapple chunks.

Directions:
Place all ingredients into a blender and pulse a few times. Scrape down the sides of the blender with a spatula as needed. Continue to blend until smooth. Since this is a more thick smoothie, you may need to shake the blender a few times to help everything smooth out nicely. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Have a little extra time? Make into a smoothie! Pour smoothie into a bowl and top with desired toppings. We used walnuts, cacao nibs, and bee pollen. Other toppings that would go well are fruit slices, slivered almonds, hemp or chia seeds, unsweetened shredded coconut, and/or a little honey.

Share your photos or videos doing this workout and tag us @fairburnitoff and use #furburninfriday so we can see all of the fun.

Have a purrfect weekend! 😺

Please note, we were not asked nor are we sponsored in any way by the MSPCA. We did this purely for fun and because we are actually crazy cat parents who just really love anything to do with and supporting animals! Outside of working out, anything animal related is our favorite pastime!
